Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the person who first dreamt of a separate Muslim state. He is known as " Poet of the East" He was a great Philosopher and Politician. He devoted his life to study of Islam.He also took an active part in politics and worked for the Muslims of South Asia with great courage. In 1930, Allama Iqbal presided over the Allahabd meeting of the Al India Muslim League and on this historic occasion, he was the first who made a definite demand for a separate Muslim state in South Asia.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, was born in Sialkot, a town in the Punjab, on 9th November,1877. Allama Iqbal recieved his early education in his home town. In 1895, he went to Governt College Lahore. He passed his M.A in 1899, from the University of Punjab. In 1905, he left for England for higher studies and received a law degree in London. In 1908, he was awarded a degree of Ph.D by Munich University, for his work on Persian philosophy.
